Sometimes things don't work out because people aren't ready for them yet, an idea too ahead of it's time is doomed to never see the light of day. Thrill Kill is to Dave Mirra's BMX XXX what DaVinci's Sketches are to the modern machines related to them (helicopters, machine guns, cannons, tanks, parachutes, etc.)
MGS2 and DoA3 had nudity, so it's obvious games with such aren't totally taboo any more. And there are many other BMX games out there... the only reason this game won't make it out is if there's another school shooting (because M games that could be contravarsal of any sort will be used as fuel for media fire) or if like ThrillKill the parent company decides it has too many videogame developers and terminates one before completion.
What I think is odd about the game really is the fact it's a Dave Mirra game... you'd think they'd take out the real people, replace them with ficitious ones and just slap "from the Makers of Dave Mirra BMX" on the box... I mean if I wanted to be taken seriously as a X-treme sportsman I wouldn't want my good name connected to a smut title...

there are regulations and guidelines to what can and can't be showed on a general access web-site like IGN, they could get in serious trouble if they were to expose a minor to such graphic nudity/violence/whatever (read: They'll show it as Insider Only later on)

I agree, DOA X shows what you'd see in any anime any day of the week, actually with less nudity, so I don't think that it's that bad.
