Well I for one don't think King really does Muay Thai but a derivative called Savate which is like French Kickboxing...
There is Virtua Fighters Vanessa who is a Vale Tudo fighter and that art combines the Brazilian version of Muay Thai with Jujitsu.
I'll get back to this topic later...there aren't that many Kickboxing females in fighting games ya know...

I think King's the only one, unless you want to go by my roomies... According to them, Sagat is a Pussy Whore because he's 1) tall and 2) throws variable walls of fireballs. Him being a Pussy Whore qualifies him as a Female in our Demented World. (;
On another topic, Rule #1 has been instated in our household ever since everyone found out that Zangief, in my hands, is more than competent. Though they chuckled at first, those laughs diminished when they fell victim to the Level 3 Final Atomic Buster! ;D

I think her fighting style has always been labeled Muay Thai in her bios... whether it actually is or not is another matter.

in the comic I'm writing I have a nine year old girl who's extremely skilled in Muay Thai...
but unless you cont Benimaru (HAHAHAHAHAHA! he sure is girly...) I don't think there are any other 'real' female Muay Thai characters aside from Kng.

There lies the point. If most of you haven't figured it out yet, most of these random posts where I ask a question are somehow related to a game idea I'm working on or simply need comparison/contrast to.

The thought passed throug my mind.... The closest thing I got is an 18 year old female, red hair & street gang leader... thoug she doesn't actually uses mue tai; she studied 2 years and quit; so she has the basis of the art.
Where's your web site???? or where can I find some of your profiles.... I would like to have some words with you; after all we are both aiming for the same: Original Desings

Well, in actual reality, Muay Thai is a martial arts that demands more on the strength on your blows, unlike many Chinese martial arts demands more on swiftness and variety of strokes. It is possible for a 9 year old girl to be extremely skilled in Chinese martial arts, but it is quite impossible for Muay Thai. Not even for a 9 year old boy who has been trained since 3 years old will have developed strength to be called an expert in Muay Thai.
But hey, in comic world, you are the boss...

In KOF98, during Joe and King's intro, Joe showed off a championship belt to King, obviously boosting his superiority of the Muay Thai arts to King. That could be evidence of her learning Muay Thai.
My opinion is her skills is a mixture of Muay Thai, French Kickboxing and some imagination of SNK creators.

Well Savate basically is Muay Thai but with differences such as a little more focus on the legs I believe.
There are so many variations of Muay Thai it's amazing...like Shooting...which is Benimaru's art...he could count as a MT fighter.

Warning, there are French people on this BBS... Savate is not a variation of Muay Thai... I could send a long post about this, but it would have to be in French, for such a subject...

IIRC, "shooting" isn't a martial art. It's just another word for street fighting. Benimaru's style was officially listed as "original" some time ago, though I suppose "shooting" isn't far off. It's not kickboxing, though.

I'm actually well aware of the fact Muay Thai requires more strength then other forms of martial arts... I never said she was a normal 9 year old girl, techically she's not human, I won't bore you with story details but she has more then enough phsyical power to use Muay Thai effectively...

Well if memory serves the Martial art known as Savate came from a few French explorers who after their adventures in Southeast Asia brought back some of the ideas and techniques of Muay Thai and fused it with the traditional boxing style and at first called it "Boxe Francaise"
However if you look at Savate and at Muay Thai you would realize that although in some ways are similar they are very different otherwise...espcially in the traditional style in how they kicked and how even that style was changed.

I believe in her offical storyline King went to Thailand to study Muay Thai when she was 11 or something... so at best her style is a mix of Muay Thai and Savate (or just "Muay Thai" or maybe even Savate SNK calls "Muay Thai" so they don't need to explain the difference)

Um from what I recall Shooting/shootfighting was somewhat like Vale Tudo...however it could be argued that style of fighting isn't a martial art since the real VT is about eye gouging and stuff LOL.

Okay, you're changing up on me here. First it's muay thai and now it's vale tudo?
Well I'm still pretty sure. It's not a martial art, it just encompasses the more brutal martial arts like muay Thai, vale tudo, jiu jitsu, Russian command sambo, etc. I think it's been more commonly called Ultimate Fighting.

No, they generally aren't so big... although male sumo don't have to be big, either.

Um I didn't "change up" on you...read again. Still don't understand? Okay keep reading this post. Shooting as I recall is a "streetfighting" style like Vale Tudo...however there IS an art to it and I recall that Shooting is about takedowns/grappling and striking attacks from Thai kickboxing. It's very much like Vale Tudo in that "Vale Tudo" if I recall means "anything goes". UF has a similar outlook to it but if you look at a UF match and a real Vale Tudo or Shooting match you will think UFC is for pussies like I do...no art or style and poorly exectued moves, etc...But I recall that Vale Tudo is a combination of Brazilian style Jujitsu with Muay Thai with dirty fighting stuff like trying to rip someone's eyes out. Shooting is very similar...but both are considered to be "street fighting" styles and one can argue that it isn't an art but a combination of styles...but to say ______encompasses(lists several arts) and then say it doesn't have an art is contradicting things...it has many arts to the style but it isn't an art doesn't make sense if you ask me.
Now for Benimaru...if you look at how he attacks with his normals you will see some similarities to Muay Thai but I agree and concede to the mentioning of his "original" (but I do recall it at one point called "Shooting") style given the beyond some of his normals plus his Iaido kick there is little similarties to any real martial art.

No no, I meant that it's a sport, not a martial art, and in that sport they use those martial arts I listed, or a combination of them. At least that was my recollection of it, but since my memory is fuzzy I looked it up and I think you're probably closer so never mind.
