a quote from Nintendo's legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto:

"What if everything you see is more than what you see -- the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is doorway and if you choose to go inside you'll find many unexpected things."

I know she can be quite powerfull, with mad pressings, but has a really huge weakness with her shadows : when she performs any, even SDM, just strike her without bothering if it's a feint or not...

Very true, you just have to be extra careful.
Too bad she wont be back for more kofs (if theres no orochi then there's no need for her, but then again...)

And you will see Chris players who will only recklessly use and abuse their overpriorities (jump CD) and so easy pressings... and win...

I don't play good KOF but my friend is very good with 98's Goro Daimon, Evil Yashiro and EX Ryo, especially EX Ryo...Pokes with light kick and when opponent jumps or rolls, he uses the "dragon punch" which has a lot of invincibility

Goro just owns everyone, period. Then followed by Chris, Kyo and Iori.

Easy/cheap characters like EX Ryo and O.Yashiro suck in high level of play.

Goro is my best, is a nightmare for everyone that comes near.

EX Ryo does not ver good in high level play, but Orochi Yashiro is very good. Easy & damaging combos + good priorities (jump , crouch ...) are always a good combination.

All grapplers are top tiers in this game, specially the ones with good pokes (see Goro here). Also, pain deliverers like Ralf (all his attacks) and Kyo (priorities + combos) are top also.

She's used in Japanese tournaments a lot. She's a combo monster, and she's also got a useful crouching feirce(I think it was) which gives her pretty good defence.

Of course I like that better than easy goings scrubs using Chris... sorry, had a bad story with Chris players...

I've heard that her standing C is as fast as her standing A, and that there's quite no difference between her standing C and crouching C ???
I used to be a KOF98 player, but more a Chizuru watcher, and it's been a long time since I played seriously KOF... (since Chris...)

hmm... So I gess I have to change my technic... (wich was : do any moove, pause, and laugh, laugh, laugh at the stupid pause she takes. then resume the game, and get instant killed).

FYI, the top three winners in the National KOF98 tournament held last year in Japan went as follows-

1st Place- Chizuru, Ex-Yashiro, Ryo
2nd Place- Iori, Chizuru, Goro
3rd Place- Iori, Ex-Yashiro, MAture
(Everyone used Advanced mode, of course.)

There'll be another tourney held this year as well during the upcoming two months. Let's see how it goes...

As for chizuru, I'm not that good with her, but here's a few basic pointers...

Chizuru isn't that strong when she's in the air, si it's not sugested to jump unless she's at a good standpoint. She's basically good at pressuring the opponent from the ground.

To start off, she has a good set of poke attacks- Far (pretty fast, keeps opponent from jumping), Far (fast), and Far (makes her go forward a bit).

Once she's on to the opponent, she's got a number of combos that can be started out by her main attack- the crouching C. One of the well known vicious one is-- Crouching > > on the edge of the screen.

Aside from combos, she can also puzzle the opponent by executing the orto the back of the opponent and make them wonder if the real Chizuru is actually in front of them, or in the back. Fairly effective to do when the opponent is waking up.

Chizuru's multiple attack super (... I think it has more invincibility with D?) can do pretty good damage if it hits. Her far makes her go foarward, so use it wisely while the opponent is being lynched by her images.

When it comes to defense, Chizuru is a but weak, since she has her anti-air attack( has invincibility), and that's about it. so try to be on the offensive side. Also, I don't use it, but someone was telling me that her sliding is extremely useful since it keeps her pretty low. I'm guessing that it may act as an anti-air, and also lets her go through projecticles if lucky. Try to pressure the opponent enought that she doesn't have to be on the defensive side.

I think other can write about her much better than her, but there it goes for now.

"Chizuru advice" , posted Sat 25 May 20:33post reply

In my opinion Chizuru is best without activating a stock; most of her SDM pale next to their DM (as most KoF'98 characters)....

Remeber that the + Punch or Kick can be timed if you press the button, making Chizuru hit earlier, the punch one has tons of priority... the weak version send the shadow Chizuru and the strong version send Chizuru.

A bitching combo that must be started from close is:

cls C; fwd + A; x 2 + Kick, run C, run C, run C... until the enemy is knocked out by the shadow; you must push a little the enemy, or the shadow won't hit enterily; well performed this can be like 70 or 75% of damage... To combo the SDM it must be:

cr C; x 2 + kick and the same; but after the last hit of the SDM you can land and extra attack; but the damage is almost the same and it is harder to landle.

A good low combo is:

cr B; cr A; + A.

More later

She has a 80% combo that ends off with the opponent "sealed from normal moves".

Standing C -> DM: The one with the shadow -> Move forward to attack a couple of times -> Before the shadow finishes crouch A X3 -> DM: The one that seals the opponent's moves temporarily.

Sorry for the confusing combo. I am not familiar with Chizuru, but seen somebody did it before. Quite damaging for only having to use 2 stocks.
