I bought Volume 1 on DVD today and I enjoyed it. I'll get Volume 2 probably tomorrow or next week.

Volume 1 is good, I bought it after renting it.

Volume 2 though...eh. You may want to rent that one if you can, or at least hang on to that receipt. Maybe you might like the "Kentaro" episode more than I did...

Well, I plan on getting the whole series, so I can't skip 4 episodes....I am an anime collector and watcher. I'll watch them all again. Shoot, I've watched all of my Kenshin stuff multiple times.

Well, since you guys are collecting the DVDs, did Akamatsu-sensei make his first appearance yet? I'm asking this because I know they must have hired someone to play as him in the dub, or am I wrong? I dunno how the scenario works. =P

I have the second volume, but haven't watched it yet. I don't know, who is Akamatsu-sensei and which ep does he appear in? The second vol. only goes from 5-8, and vol. 3 isn't released yet.

Akamatsu is the creator and the author of the manga.

He doesn't appear in volumes 1 and 2. Maybe the next one.

That would've most likely been my response, had I not spoiled myself with the manga.

But I still think the Kentaro episode would've fallen out of favor with me. They poorly introduced him.

Ok, I know this was mentioned in a post a while back, but it was a few weeks ago I think and I can't find it. Is it ever known who Keitaro made the promise to? And if so, I don't mind anyone telling me.

In the manga, yes. I'm pretty sure it's in the anime too.

well, who is it? Just use the spoiler button....I want to know. Oh, and btw, ep. 8 was cool. I mean, there was the whole RPG videogame parody, the Sailor moon transformation parody, and the Mothra parody, were there any more in that ep. that I missed?

Episode 8 is funny if you watched a fansub because of the hilarious side notes.

As for the girl,

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
Keitaro made the promise to...her little sister, Kanako! You see her in Love Hina Again. However, Keitaro was after Naru all this time, while they have been apart for a while.

End of Spoiler

Thanks Jazzie. Oh, and about my other question, were those the only parodies?

Actually Jazzie, the real girl of the promise is...

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
Naru. Volume 14 of the manga made that blatantly clear. She, Mutsumi, and Keitaro all made the promise together.

End of Spoiler

ok, now you guys are confusing me....but that makes more sense,

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
because I remember that in the vol. 2 DVD Naru said that she would've only been 2 years old 15 years ago, and that means that her younger sister would've only been 1 or younger so....

End of Spoiler

Yeah, the age thing was to throw you off, but it's true.

And Kanako is Keitaro's younger sis. Mei is Naru's stepsister, and is only in the anime.

The real problem is that manga and anime are not the same for the promised girl...

For the manga, Mutsumi gives the complete explanation in the volume 10, which is confirmed by grandma in the volume 14...

For the anime, there's no answer, Mutsumi (her again) explains it...

Kanako's promise is another one... both in manga and anime...

And for Mei, she exists also in the manga, but is not developped : Naru talks about her in volume 14, and you can see her at the wedding...

Yup. That pretty much wraps it up.
