After installing the current Evaluation Copy of BurnQuick (http://www.burnquick.com) on to my computer, my version of Nero 5.5.6.4. (http://www.nero.com) ceased to function. The Write Speed field is now blank without any options and I am unable to burn any CDs as a result.

I have tried un-installing BurnQuick and un-installing and re-installing Nero multiple times, but nothing seems to work. Nero functions normally, all except the Write speed field, and the inability to actually write CDs.

Any help on how to resolve this issue would be much appreciated.

Wow, that's quite a problem :(
Since you've already tried uninstalling the
offending program, you could do these:

1) make sure you've totally uninstalled the
programs. Delete all related files and
registry entries, and then try installing
Nero again.

2) uh oh. Maybe one of your windows system
files or shared files was replaced with an
incompatible or older version (happes a lot
with *.dll files).
In that case try to find it and replace it
with the correct version. Easier said than
done, unfortunately.

3) worse case: reinstall OS :p

hmm i'm gonna have to look out for that program myself. i've been looking for a good program to use to burn cds and i hate it when they overwrite your old *.dll files, especially when they use double negatives and other sickly phrasing to trick you! ARGH

Would you like us not to overwrite the specified files?
Yes or No

The file C:\windows\system\blah46.dll is an older version than C:\program\blah46.dll
Would you like us to overwrite it? (Recommended)
Yes or No

windows xp has something that automatically freezes the prog (i think) and asks you if you want to terminate it because it's trying to overwrite some old files. it's happened a couple of times with me. i dunno, people say xp is godlike compared to older windows versions but they all work the same to me. the newer versions of windows just get prettier as they keep coming out. they all work somewhat the same
