Saw it yesterday at midnight. I feel like a resident evil zombie but it was well worth it. Much much better than episode 1 (but you really cant blame Lucas for it, you have to start somewhere.) I really dont want to say much about it, it might have some slow parts during the middle of the movie, but it makes up for it on the last third of it. And in case you are wondering, Jar Jar does appear on the movie, but hes not as annoying and he doesnt get much screen time, so he was ok this time. You also get to see why Yoda is the master. haha.

Oh and by the way:

I heard that those who saw the previews didn't like it. It was way worse off than 1. The storyline sucks, the love between Anakin and the ex Queen Naboo was not at all romantic and it was draggy, and basically it was just a CG movie. Not just the movie critics, but also some Star Wars fans....I am not a Star Wars fan and I haven't seen 2 yet so I can't really judge...

By the way did anyone see "Heart of the City" comic strip today? Very funny.

I can see the were they may have been flaws on the acting. But worse than episode 1???

Mainly a cg movie? well, what did they want? muppets and tiny models to represent a mayor battle in the series? They did a very decent job with the cgs, this is not an issue.

Only the acting point sounds valid, but the other sounds like one of a rabies infected fanboy that plays everquest all day. But they are entitled to their opinions as dumb as they are.

I'll be seeing it in a couple of hours, I can't wait! I'm sure I'll like it more than Ep. 1, I mean, this is the Clone Wars, I've been waiting to see it for a long time....

Well if not for the very last 15 minutes of the movie I'd say that Episode 2 was the most boring thing I've ever been privy to seeing. However I'd say that the last 15 minutes is NOT good enuff of an excuse to see the movie alone. I literally had to wake up my girl freind and tell her that shits happening on the screen. She got to see Yoda, so she swears the rest of the movie had to be good. Oh how wrong, she be, sucked bad, movie does....mmmmmm.

Just my 2 cents, and honestly I wanted more Jar Jar, it was better than the c3po puns littered in the damn thing imo. Of course for some I've just lost all credibility ;)

I'm sure I'll be in the minority, but I didn't like Episode 2 much. Sure, it was better than Ep 1, but that's really not saying much...
Surprisingly, watching it at the midnight showing with a theater full of SW fanatics did little to enhance the experience (unlike Episode 1, which actually made it somewhat bearable to watch at the time).

I did enjoy segments involving Obi-Wan, however.

I think maybe there was less novelty with this film. People probably got into part one more because they were starved for it. I saw the premiere aswell. Truthfully I don't know how I feel about this film. I'll reserve my opinion until I see it agian.

You're probably right. I think the disappointment of Episode I dampered the hype for part II.

Early impressions look pretty good(Yoda this, Yoda that, Yoda Yada Yada...), hopefully I'll like it.

Well there's a difference between wanting something entertaining and wanting action. Everyone in the EP1 and EP2 surrounds characters who speak in a very monotone voice. And the characters that were developing this story were badly developed, the only guy I thought that had some depth was Jango. It killed me when the senator had no reaction to Annakins, lets call it "reaction" and what he said. I was like okay...here's where the DRAMA AND THE MUSic builds! Wait....what happened? I've been cheated! Wait, a scene like that is meant for people who can actually can act! My bad.

As a question, do they resolve Peter Cushing's ( Tarkin, from the original Star Wars ) role in this movie? Or is he somebody they just forgot about? Since he could order Darth Vader around, I had always assumed he was a very important person in the founding of the Empire.

No, they didn't have any reference to general Tarkin, but maybe the next one will.

(on a side note, why do I get the feeling Tarkin should drive the stake through Count Dooku's chest? And where's Kevin Bacon? )

Tarkin's not in, if they show him at all it would be in episode 3 where the poop hits the fan and the empire is built (and anakin becomes cool.)

And uncauzi, i will agree the acting was kinda flaky in some parts, but thats about it. You wasted an opening night seat.

Anakin's acting was really good in some parts

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
like when he found his mom and was talking about how he killed all the sand people

End of Spoiler

, and at others it was just there. Still, overall the acting in the movie WAS good, and I enjoyed the movie a lot. Yoda.....that was great. Ok, anyway, Ewan did great the whole time, and I'm glad they revealed Boba's origin.

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
It's funny that Jango died such a quick and sudden death, just like his son does later on. In fact, the way Boba is killed by a blind Han is hilarious.

End of Spoiler

Also

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
I am glad to have gotten to see Luke's aunt and uncle, they looked the part well....

I'll go see it tomorrow, mainly because I'll be bored. I am not a huge Star Wars fan, just going as far as saying I enjoy the movies. I am more of a Star Trek fan (though not as rabid as I was in my early youth). I am eagerly awaiting the release of Star Trek Nemesis, supposedly the last cast of the TNG crew. I am also excited because so many cool characters in it, especially an old favorite:

I hate George Lucas.

He creates the most amazing characters and situations in existance, and just doesn't have the brains to realize that he is incapable of writing or directing.

EVERYONE in that movie is a very capable actor, you can see how limited they are by that script though and the inherent constraints of the direction.

I want to see Episode III David Lynch style. The opening credit sequence can be a twenty minute opera of Darth Vader putting his mask on and then everyone can think out loud for three hours while people get torn in half. :D

Lucas may be jsut be wary in recasting the role, since Peter Cushing is no longer with us (RIP) and it's not really that major of a role (Off screen explination can suffice...).

Not really being a huge Star Wars fan, I don't know how I'll react to Episode 2. The action scenes look crips, but the acting looks to be subpar (Which is what makes an action movie these days...Look at the first 3 films which had wonderfull acting). I'll probably watch and enjoy though, at least as a popcorn film...:P

Ep. 2 IS GOOD. Very good. It's 1000 times better than Ep. 1, but as Juan said, you can't blame Lucas for it.

The film is great for me, except maybe the very beggining, and

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
the love story between Anakin and Amidala. I felt that it was a bad Marmalade Boy chapter.

End of Spoiler

Also,

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
I thought that the transformation of Anakin would be more gradual, but he's an arrogant bastard from the beggining to the end.

End of Spoiler

As a final note, only one thing: Yoda and Obi Wan RULES!!

Good movie, better than Episode I.

the good:

-YODA. Yes, that scene does kick ass.
-The action sequences. Fast and furious.
-The backdrops. Stunning.
-Less Jar Jar. THANK YOU GOD.

the bad:

-The acting. Lucas must be to blame for this, because Portman and Christensen are as wooden as logs. And Mace Windu...sorry Sam, you're better off as a pilot, 'cause you aren't convincing me you're a Jedi master.
-The length. Christ, this movie drags on far too long to get to the good parts. A little more time in the editing room Lucas, and this movie would be gold...

the ugly:

-My bladder about halfway into the film. Note to self: NEVER bring bottled water to the movie theater again....

I really liked it. Yoda kicked ass. So did Jango Fett( and his son didn't die. He lived. He might have died in the comics/books set after the movies. But in the movies he didn't die.). I didn't think the acting was that bad. If you can't take Ep 2 you shouldn't be able to take New Hope. The acting was about the same. Man, I wanna see Yoda again.

Um do you mean Boba Fett didn't die, cause as far as I'm concerned he did die in RotJ, but the books written by other people later on brought him back. I do accept the expanded universe though, but only because of Mara Jade.

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
The fact that Chewbacca is dead in the expanded universe is crap.

End of Spoiler

Also, as an actor, I also didn't think the acting was bad. Christensen really came across well in some of the more powerful emotional scenes, and Portman (not her real name by the way, I have no idea what Natalie Portman's real name is) did fine. All the other acting was good.
