Who do you think deserves to be on the list of "The All Time Videogame Legends"! We're going by overall quality of the games that these companies have made, the general reputation of these companies (for example, when you hear that Midway is making a new game it most likely sends shivers down your spine, but when Nintendo announces a new game you get a warm, fuzzy feeling), and how long they've been around.

Given, right off the bat, you could say Nintendo and Sega. The legacy of these two companies simply cannot be denied.

I'd also put Konami, Square and Capcom on the list immediately. They're reputation for quality games is almost unmatched (although each of the companies I've already listed, including Sega and Nintendo, have had a few turds now and then).

I'd also consider Treasure to be among the greats, although they've mostly been developers instead of distributors.

Now Atari I'm not sure about. They were definitely trendsetters back in the day, but for the past few years they haven't seemed to be able to put together a game that's worth $.50....

What are your thoughts?

CAPCOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAN! This company cannot be surpassed when it comes to fighting games!!

SNK's kind of cool. Not that great,I never was a big fan. But they can also be considered one, too.

Ahhhh, how could I forget Namco. Although, I really haven't played much Namco stuff besides their fighting games, they've been huge contributors to the videogame industry (Pac-man anyone?)

I'd have to say that Capcom, Square, and Namco are my favorites. I've rarely been disappointed by them at all. And I mostly judge on RPG's but fight games are actually important to me.

Square is a master of RPG's.. and a not-so-master at fight games. However.. it is hard to beat their long plots with loveable characters. (Tifa's large breasted legacy shall live on until she is outdone by someone who manages a larger bra size.)

Capcom does it all. That's all I can say.

Namco, though, I was surprised not to see on the original list. After the Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny thing... I would add them promptly. They were rather quality games despite my sisters cynacisim of it at the beginning.

(I love my 6th sense about videogames and anime! Yee!)

Ehh, I'd rather do a list of legendary videogames and systems than a list of legendary companies. Cause while I love alot of the companies listed, they sometimes do a game I really don't like...

But for console games I'd probably go with Sega, Nintendo, Konami, Capcom. For Arcade Games I'd go Sega, Namco (Pacman alone gets them there), Capcom, SNK. For PC devlopers I'd go EA, ID, and Microprose (It made Civilzation...).

Devlopers that should go on the list of shame? Well there's Acclaim...(For a long string of bad games...)

Oh, Atari went bankrupt after the Jaguar fiasco. The remains of the company have been passed around like a dead weasel that nobody wants. I don't think they've really made any games since then, although there ARE still people developing for the Jaguar... at least, there was in 2000. -_-

People are still devloping games for the 2600 too, so the Atari systems are somewhat alive in the enthusiast circles (Something that I hope happens for the DC). Granted they're very much home brewed games, but the concept alone is cool...

Atari does need to belong on the list of legends, simply because they did alot to set-up the home console market in the early 80's. Sure they flushed it all away, but still they did dominated the market for a period of time...

I remember a time when Nintendo was used to refer to any videogame, LOL. At least to some people. Nintendo would be number one on my list....with Sega a close second....

Hey!!! how can everyone forget Enix!! Their RPG are far better than sqare's (I never played a good Square since Rudora no Hihô on SFC) (ah, and Legend of Mana, but the guys left Square for Nintendo). Just look at everything Triace did, or Dragon quest series....

And they are working on the sequel of the best game of the Playstation for Play 2 : Zokusegare Ijiri.
WARNING : THIS SITE CAN HURT INTELLIGENT PEOPLE

Enix all the way, a big bit of Capcom if they do a sequel to Gyakuten Zaiban or Vampire, and Sega. No, no, not all Sega, juste UGA and the guy who did Segagaga.

My choices would be: Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, Namco and Konami.

Although I like Square, this 5 companies have developed every single genre with at least a good game in each one. Square lacks variety, and the same goes to Enix. They're good, but not legends.

Of course I would like to add Psikyo, Treasure and Tri-Ace (three of the best developers out there) but they aren't too important in the videogame market...

And about Enix games being more important than Square's... even when DQ sells more in Japan, Square has been more influential lately with the introduction of FFVII... (I'm not defending Square anyway, they make fine rpg's, not my favorites, Tri-Ace and Namco got that title long ago...)
