He is a lame piece of crap, but I don't hate him as much as a lot of the other KoF characters. I mean, I'd rather have him in the next KoF than Ryo, Takuma, Clark, Ralf, Athena, Yuri, Kensou, Maxima, Chang, Choi, Heidern and King. But that's just me....

I kinda like him as well....He looks cute to me, but year he is unusual...

Reasons why he is disliked:
1. People likes Athena, and don't mind she screaming "Psycho Ball!" in a high pitch 10-20 times in a round. But when you get a guy doing the same thing it is irrating.

2. He has a really weird outfit, and the way he excutes his normal moves seem wimpy, even though he is supposed to be somehow a strong fighter due to the dragon spirit.

3. All other reasons being mentioned by others.

Hmmmmmm people love and hate characters for all sorts of reasons...

The only antidote to my poison is death...Hey! No fair! You have a resurrection move??

I love the Psycho Soldiers (except for Chin, but I don't hate him). I think Athena is great, and I like Bao. One reason he's great is because if you play as him everyone else seems to hate him and when you kick their butt it really pisses them off.

I really do like all the Psycho Soldiers on the team though...

I'll admit I liked the Psycho Soldiers briefly in 1996, they had a catchy theme song... I liked them and then they teamed with Bao and Athena started dressing stupid, Kensou lost his powers, and Chin looks dumb in his new clothes!!!! See what happens when I like something!!!! It gets brutally destoyed! Ripped into a million pieces while I watch in horror sobbing wildly into my hands! And that my friends is why Mature and Vice was killed by Iori...

hahaha, now thats funny. (sorry to laugh at your suffering though. it's just humorous)

Anyways, I really like Kensou, he's a cool little kid. I'm not sure what it is. he's kinda goofy with the meatbuns (Nikuman Ya!) but he had that intro with Chin and his Kempo (wushu) style is slick. I really like him. Hope he sticks around.

I don't like Bao, for this reasons(ones more rational than others):

- He is annoying to fight against. In 99 & 2000 he had that confusing system of throwing a ball or throwing himself, that was annoying as hell. In 2001 he has the ball-cancel-into-ball thing, which annoys me less, but is molest nevertheless. He also has the shield super, another annoyance.

- His voice.

- His normal moves don't seem too damaging, but, for example, his CD is very strong. How can he be physically strong at his age? His normals should deal little damage, but, noooo...

- And last, I can't use him well, and that annoys me also!!

This is, of course, only my opinion, as valid (or not) as others.

The reason I don't like Bao is because I don't care for projectiles. Kind of hard to like a character whose entire move list is comprised of projectiles.

My best friend and SF II players all around could easily waste me with some lame ass fireball trap and to this day I still have a hard time with dealing with them.

Amazes me how a projectile seems to only have lenghtly recovery on them when I'm throwing them.

Other than that, I don't have much against the runt. I like his outfit, though it could've been a darker color. The kid could've been older also.

My deal behind Bao is this:

- Like what someone said, I don't mind Athena shouting "Psycho Ball" 10-20 times, but if a guy does it, then it gets irritating.

- The voice - like in my last reason, it is annoying.

- I don't like his outfit. Why the hell is he wearing a communist school outfit? Isn't it pretty much dead in China?

- He annoys the ladies too much.

- Though this has nothing to do with me, you can't tell if Bao is a guy or girl.

- He's the reason why Kensou lost his powers pretty much. In '99, I had a hard time getting used to Kensou.

- His move list is pretty much projectile based. Nifty, but can be lame at times also.

Overall, I don't like using Bao. I mean, I can be good with him, but I have more fun with Athena or Kensou, the only Psycho Soldiers members I'm good with. In some cases, he's aight, but in others, he is annoying.

I personally like cute boy characters just fine. I have no problems with Bao or Bridget.

In fact, Bridget is the only character that interests me as far as all the new faces goes on GGXX.

But in general, it seems western male (especially young male) players tend to tolerate androgynous young boys less than Japanese equilibrant. I have a guess as to why, but I won't voice it here. :)

Hmmm...true, but I don't really follow this trend. I mean, there are some young feminine-looking guys I enjoy playing as like Shizumaru. At first, I thought Shizumaru was a girl, but then I would later on find out that he is a guy.
