....is it really necessary to quote the entire post (which is often very, very long), and then only post a two or three word blurb under it? I don't know about you guys, but that annoys the hell out of me.

I'd suggest that if a quote is long, it should be edited except for what's being answered on.

I did a thread on this exact same issue maybe half a year ago. Everybody agreed that the pointless quoting was unnecessary. Yet it still continues. So I really wouldn't hold your breathe....
