I tried it out for a short time today. Let me write a slapped up report on it. I realy doubt that I'll go check it again, so this will probby be the first and last report. It's not that I hated the game, but that I can wait until it makes general release.
RotD looks slick when you see it in still pics, but when you actually see it moving, you realize how choppy it is. Think of it as a GarouMOTW with half the animation patterns, badly animated hit effects (very bad), and not-too-unique moves.
The game seems to be as slow as the CvS series, so don't expect the fast paced action like in the KOF series. This is good for people who have slow reactions, but it kind of makes the game feel old, when combined with the lack of animation.
Some characters look very well drawn with thought put into motion, like Pupa the girl. Other characters move really unnaturally, like they have wires stuck in their body. A good example is Elias the preist, who moves like he's got a coat hanger stuck in his back.
The backgrounds don't move much, but they're fairly good in general. Much better than the bland effortless BGs in fighter games nowadays.
The pre-stage demo is very similar to Last Blade, where a few shots portraying the upcoming stage is shown before the battle scene. In fact, the window showing the shots is actually bigger.
The game system has AB dodge and roll, and BC does the tag switch. All of this is already covered so I won't go into deeper details. Btw, tagging to the partner requires a wait time, but it's not really too noticable in actual gameplay.
There was one other thing interesting about the tagging- The "Duplex" combo set which requires 2 stocks, where the partner can be called out, and the two characters take turns hitting the opponent in a juggle. It kind of reminded me of the teamup combo in Kizuna Encounter, but this looked more fun. The opponent seems helpless as he/she is sandwiched between the two characters.

A few notes on characters-
Jimmy- He's Rock Howard. A bulky, big, Rock Howard. He has Rock's standing pose where he touches his lips. He also has KOF96 Geese's Reppuken, Robert Garcia's Illusion Kick, Rick Stroud's Hellion, and a few other moves that seem to come from other games.
Pupa- Very popular. She has a monkeywrench that she uses for attacking, but her main attacks seem to be Capoiera.
Pepe- He has Kim Dongphwan's overhead electricity kick.
Annie- Has Chamcham's jump-in-air-and-scratch-opponent move.
Errgh.. there's a lot more moves that seem to be inspired form other games, but I can't remember. Btw, Mr. Jones may look cool, but he's kinda choppy in his movement.
One thing that really makes the game boring is that- although there seems to be quite some uniquness in the character design, the attacks/special moves just aren't fresh enough to accomodate it.
Most moves in the game, you've probably seen it somewhere else, and they're pretty stright-forward attacks. They don't have special properties as far as I've seen (such as autoguard, split-decision into other specials, etc). That makes the game basically a "just go towards your opponent and poke them until a normal move hits so you can combo" game, at least for now. While I wish the best for this game, I strongly doubt that it can compete with GGXX.

It seems to be the general opinion: "Good design, bad game"
That's not good.

Hmmm...looks like this game can't surprise me. *sighs*

Ok, here goesa string of answers-
Freeter- My avatar is a main female character from a new anime called "Ai yori Aoshi". The girl awefully dedicates her life to the main character boy that it's almost embarassing to watch. It's a bit sick when you think about it though, since.. well, she's like a stalker.
Talbaineric- The stages I remember are.. 1- A Korean stage that looks a bit like the old KOF94 China stage (seen in the vids) 2- A wrecked Church 3- A Bar (seen in hte vid) 4- A wrestling stage that looks a bit like Garou's
There's more but I've forgotten, sorry.
Rugal B.- I'm not sure, but the game in beta testing was playing in English mode, if that makes any possible suggestion. This was the first time that I've ever seen a beta testing game set up like that.
My assumption is that the game was the beta test version. But, I think the games is already finished in development, and they're just doing income testing. No Employee was there to take notes like the Beta testing in Osaka.
Fygee- I don't know about Abobo.
That other fat guy moves with possibly the choppiest number of frames out of all characters.
Also, I just remembered- Sonia Has a special that looks like Magneto's Shock wave. Cassandra has a counter throw that seems to pick up on most moves, Alice constantly has Auras around her hands.. and I think she shot out Reppukens.
Kitsune413- Tried it since you mentioned it. Harder than it looks.
