I heard that it was confirmed that SNK really did plan to reveal in Real Bout that Andy (but not Terry, as far as I can recall) was Geese's son (there actually was a caption to a screenshot on it on a promotional ad that read something like "Family members settle their disputes!" and it was a screenshot of Andy and Geese fighting). Since then, however, SNK decided to ditch that plotline and go with Rock as Howard's son instead. But you can still see remnants of their foreshadowing that Andy was supposed to be Geese's son and hey, SNK could always bring back that plot point and make it true if they wanted to.

Exactly... That could've been such awesome way to end Geese chapter of FF/Garou Densetsu series.
Wonder if they can still somehow incorporate that story into Garou 2 by having Andy back?

Geese kills Jeff -> Terry kills Geese (sorta) -> Andy finds out that Geese was his real father -> Terry vs Andy?!

(Aoi Nanase usually draws great pictures of Nakoruru mostly, she did the cover of the LD of the OAV for exemple. She is a great artist, but she has an awfull dark side... she makes the most hentai dojinshi of Samurai Spirits I've ever seen, and since she's somehow the official designer, it's always.... disturbing!)

Actually, I love the 2001 art, but Clark just looks BAD.

The Yuri picture doesn't bother me at all. She's supposed to be a wacky character, so it fits her.

I have to agree with Juan. I think that everyone is waiting for a style-less manga artist. Personally I liked the 2k1 art. Since Yuri is a "joke" character, I don't see any problem with the image.

I'll chime in here that I'm not really looking for a manga artist, I just want a good artist to the picture. The problem with the Yuri pic is not the style, cause while I'm not a fan of it a few of the other KOF girls turned out decently okay in the style.

My problem is with the pose, and the body porptions, and the facial expression. They're just totally off for Yuri. Yes, she's been a joke character for most of KOF. But she's been a cute joke character, and this is not cute at all. This should of been returned back to the artist and asked to be redrawn before it was placed in the game.

Being someone who plays Yuri a lot in kof/aof/cvs2 I actually find it quite insulting :p

That pose/expression etc would work so much better on Choi (In fact, she looks like Choi in that pose)
It's definitely the worst picture in kof 2k1.

Apart from some of the character portraits (and all Clark art. Blargh) I think the artwork in 2k1 is fantastic.
Especially the victory art pictures(Vanessa = instant arousal)

Personally its not the expression or pose she has....its just the horrible way she's drawn.

80% of the victory pose artwork look insanely weird and...well....nasty. The noses, mouths, and lips on the characters are extremely disproportionate (Robert looks like one of those things from Parasite Eve 2 where their mouth goes clear back to his ears). If they looked proportionate like the artwork during the generic story bits, and a few of the character select pics, then it'd be just fine.

Bring back 2000's artist dammit!! This weird shit has got to go!

Call me weird but kof feels to me like a soap opera, which is not bad, is interesting to see the interaction and rivalries of characters. The style fits well, and the theme of the game is more than well suited to be an anime or manga (thats why you see so much fanmangas and fan art everywhere.)

Like i said before, is not that the art is ugly, it is very different and expressive (even tho he put way to much expression on Yuri :) I wish i had at least a tiny wee of that artist's skills.

And as Juan said, it's not really the style at fault as I like some of the KOF 2k1 Pics (And the earlier Yuri Character art done by Nona...). It's just that pose and dynamics of picture are wrong, IMHO. Clean those up and it'd be okay...

And yeah, KOF and all fight games lend itself to the anime/manga and comic field of story telling. The style of storytelling used in the games just lends itself to the genre.

Indeed. KOF is like a big, confusing manga. The art in the games has also always been manga style, not " Shinkiro " style, which I have ALWAYS felt was inappropriate for a fighting game. Shinkiro should be off making paintings, or something, not doing art for videogames...

Heh, heh, heh... I'll have to check those out, again, but, for the most part, I think a lot of the KOF96 in-game was bad-ass. Well, it at least gets my vote for best introduction! KOF98 and KOF2K get the first and second runner up thinks me. ...Granted I've decided all this in the past five seconds.

Shinkiro gets hated on far too much.
Sure, when his art sucks, it REALLY, REALLY sucks (the first CvS anyone?). But he's very talented and he has done some of my favorite SNK art ever.

His art (some of it) is a nice break from the endless manga/marvel style art. Hell, Most of the people I know that hate him don't have half the skill that he has.

Still, his art isn't for everyone. And he is the worst artist in Capcom right now.

Although there are a lot of things that I don't really appeal to in Shinkirou's style of art, I have to say he's gotten a lot better with coloring since his early days.

Also, there have been a few CGs of Mai that he did really well. She seems to be one of the few characters that he has drawn many many times and has gotten better at illustrating her.

But otherwise, I think he's an okay artist. He draws better than me, that's for sure.
