I saw this on the AoD forum. But, it's too long to reply to. So I figured we could do one here.

Vandred 8.5/10
I've really been loving this series. Love how Dita can piss of Hibiki sooo much. And how brashly dumb Hibiki is. Along with all problems that go with two "Alien races"(Man and women) meeting each other for the first time.

Jin Roh 7/10
It was pretty good. But I didn't like the ending. Nice with DTS.

Nadesico 9/10
Very good series. Lots of jokes and spofs. I thought the Gekigangar obsession with everyone was funny. But, it still had a good story line. The story line didn't have as much thinking as eva. More like eva diet coke.

Zeta 8/10
Starts off kinda slow but then tells a great story. Now I just need to find episodes 22 and above. Then, I can see Char's counter attack and understand it.

Excel 8/10
Only seen one episode. But, it gots major potenal. FLCL potental to me. They kill the main character in the first 5 minutes of the show 3 times. Excel also beats the crap out of a the poor immegrant worker named "Pedro".

9/10 Vandread is pretty decent, but gets *really* good in Vandread : Second Stage. It's amongst my favorite series to date.

8/10 Initial D - Somewhat slow to start up, but keeps a good pace and story. Character designs are ugly as hell, but the characters themselves really grow on you and have good development. CG work is interesting. Second Stage, and Third Stage just get better. Only reason I rate it lower is cause racing isn't for everyone.

Steam Detectives 9/10: Very nice show. It has a little bit of that Cowboy bebop classiness in it. Lots of grays used to give it a nice feel in the city. Solid animation with great acting. SOtory line is pretty good, but the main villian looks like Superman 0_o

Chobits: 9/10

Yes I love it very much, eventhough I"ve
only seen 2 episodes so far ^_^
And it has the most perverted use of natto
I've ever seen in my life!

For those who don't know, it's a anime based
on the Clamp manga set in the not too
distant future where Persocons have become
commonplace, which are personal computers
which usually resemble kawaii girls :)

The story revolves about a guy who finds
a Persocon in the trash. Unfortunately
the Persocon doesn't know anything and can
only say Chii, so he finds out more about
her and teaches her... stuff :)

Ah, and I have read the manga so it helps a
lot.

Ero saitu! Ero saitu!

I My Me Starwberry Eggs : ???/10
This one is weird! I have to see more
episodes to rate this one.

Full Metal Panic : 9.5/10

From the makers of Vandread (Studio Gonzo)
comes yet another anime with giant mecha :)

It's about a young guy (Sousuke)who is
assigned to guard a schoolgirl (Chidori),
but he has a very stiff military personality
whereas the girl is very genki, so you can
guess what happens.

Nice mix of romamce, sexual tension, ncie
and cool action scenes and an unhealthy
amount of upskirt shots ^_^;;

Chobits: 9/10 - Have only seen 2 eps, but it's moving along nicely from what I've seen. Nice Humor, with an underling Sci-Fi plot that is very solid. And Chii is just cute...:P

Full Metal Panic: 9.5/10 It rocks, and it will be picked up for US release when the con season goes into full swing. High quality animation, an intresting story (High school life mixed togther with mecha and an internation terroism force, can't beat that...:). make this a fun watch.

Jin-Roh: 8/10 Intresting take on the Little Red Riding hood story. The whole alternate Japan thing through me off a bit at the start, but after that this movie picks up steam. A must watch for serious anime movie fans and Oshii fans alike.

Kanon: 8/10 Visual novel anime based on the PC/DC game Kanon. Haven't played the game so I can't comment on the faithfullness of the adaptaion, but so far I'm liking the anime. It just feels so much different from the last few date sim/Visual novel animes (To Heart, Comic Party).

Fruits Basket: 9.5/10 Quickly becoming my favorite Shoujo anime, and if the ending rocks it could knock of Marmalade Boy (which I love, except the US eps). A great mix of humor, drama, and romance...With a dash of martial arts too, Fruits Basket is the show that has almost everything. And it's excuted in such a nice fashion, as well. The op and ed rock, as the low key slow paced music just FITS the series.

Card Captor Sakura The Movie: 9/10 Avoids falling into the typical pitfalls of Anime movies based on TV series. It doesn't feel like an extended TV episode, nore does it feel too serious either. Instead you get something that easily fits into the CCS world, yet feels special at the same time. US Sub DVD comes with a neat pencil board, and the encode is pretty awesome too...

Hack// Sign: 7.5/10 Intresting anime that covers the world of VR and MMORPG's. The music is pretty rocking, and the idea of a person existing inside a MMORPG world alone is an intresting concept. Worth keeping an eye on

RahXephon: 8.5/10 Mecha Anime that falls into the Eva mold of series. Young Ayato must pilot RahXephon to save the world from the threat of Tokyo Jupiter. The mecha designs, and the Maaya Sakamoto/Yohko Kano op really set the series apart. I just hope it doesn't fall apart at the ed...

Read or Die: 4/5- Fresh, original, awesome. Docked it a point for its short length, and third ep is pretty brutal to watch at some parts.

Yu Yu Hakusho: 4/5- Yes, it's an old series, but it's one I haven't seen yet. Solid stuff, much better than the fluff that DBZ constantly churns out.

Soultaker: 2/5- Had promise in the beginning but later devolved into a cheesy Guyver clone. The forced cutesy character didn't help.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust: 4/5- Very stylish remake, dubbing is spot on for the most part. The end was kind of lame though, and the female that accompanied D (forgot her name) wore an ugly outfit.

Love Hina: 4/5- Though I have a feeling it won't ever live up to the manga, what I've seen so far is good. Fast paced hilarity with some fine animation to boot.

Weis Krüz: *cough* Okay, I didn't know what this was going to be when I rented it. Now that I know, and being a guy it just didn't feel right watching four guys fight crime from a flower shop, even if they're all supposedly not gay. That and the poor animation and cruddy storytelling didn't help either. 4/10

Vandread: Funny on occasion, but nothing I haven't seen before. Sci-fi chicks, interplanetary war and big folding mechs? Been there, done that. Really, the whole thing looks like a vehicle to sell toys. But then, what sci-fi series isn't, these days. 5/10

Gokudo: I don't know why, but as these fantasy comedies go I find it better than Slayers. The hero guy is a lot like Lina but at the same time he's such a non-typical character I can't help but love the way he reacts to serious situations by getting pissed and walking away. Now if only the jokes would get a little less predictable... 6.5/10

Princess Nine: Okay, I'm a sucker for a great soundtrack and sports anime in general. Why aren't there more sports anime released in the US? Geez, it seems like it should be so obvious. Anyway, the first two volumes build some great drama, then it gets kinda dumb near the end of volume 3. Still I have high hopes for it. 7.5/10

Cowboy Bebop - Knockin' on Heaven's Door: I'm such a big CB fan I can't possibly look at it in a negative tone. Soundtrack awesome, fightscenes awesome, plot awesome, and not one lick of a difference from the series, which is the most important thing. 10/10

Noir: Only seen first 4 episodes so far, but it's very interesting... no extraneous characters other than the two main, no overdone comedy routines, and some very clever action. 9/10

Excel Saga: Err... I'm going to be watching this one after I finish Noir. I'll update when I do... EDIT: Well, it's obviously relying on humor but so far I'm not laughing that much. If the plot made more sense I might find it funnier. 5/10

Iketeru Futari: fun series of short episodes, lots of fanservice. 7/10

Full Metal Panic: only saw the first ep so I won't rate it, but it's a very, very good start.

Love Hina Again: Maybe not as good as the manga, but still I liked it. too bad that Keitaro choosed... well, you know. 8/10

Macross Plus: Saw the ova's for the first time in MANY years, and still continues as one of my favorite animes of all times. Great characters, great story, great (GREAT) ending. 10/10

Noiseman: Short animated story by Koji Morimoto, saw it last night and really liked it. It's a very weird one, but the animation is awesome... 8.5/10

Blue Submarine #6: Even when the 3d parts are outdated by today's levels it's a great ova series, Gonzo studio did an AWESOME job as always (well, except FFU). 8.9/10

Virgin Fleet: ova series about some girls with psychic powers piloting airplanes. Imagine Sakura Taisen without the charming characters, cool action scenes, and with a rushed ending. 5/10

Azumanga tv 8/10
Would have loved it 10/10 if they used the voice actresses from the web version! The voice casting for the web version was *perfect*, the tv series wasn't as good...

Tenchi Muyo GXP 7/10
Better then I expected...

Tokyo Underground 5/10
Looked good on the first ep. Extremely disappointed by the third ep.

Tenshi na Konamaiki 8/10
Characters are fugly! fugly! fugly! But the anime's quite a load of fun though... and Megumi Hayashibara... Characters are fugly though. So fugly.

Abenobashi Maho Shotengai 8/10
Cool and wacky. Plus Hayashibara sang the opening. ummm... hooray?

Pitaten 7/10
Pretty good... but I'm anxiously waiting for ep3 so that a certain character will appear... :D

"What have I seen as of late..." , posted Thu 18 Apr 09:58post reply

I haven't seen much anime, but I'll take a crack at it.

To Heart - Shounen/drama

Based on the PC game in which I haven't played yet, I have only seen the first episode. There's 13 episodes total and if I remember correctly, the anime came out two or three years ago. The hentai parts have been removed. This series is only available via fansub.

+ You have some nice animation here. You should see Hiroyuki as a child. He's waaay cute! Then again, kids that age do look cute. Awesome! Awesome!

+ Voice acting is top notch. The music is great also. It feels like you want to kick back and relax.

+ Story is pretty good, even though we have seen this used so many times.

+ There's great character development. Akari-chan and Hiroyuki have known each other for a long time. You'd expect a happy ending. Oh and Hiroyuki is a lot like me. *lol*

+ The environment is not totally real, but it comes pretty darn close.

+ If you want a game to anime transition, this is actually one of the better ones out there.

- The anime does move slow a bit.

- The anime isn't purely shounen, since it does act more shoujo in the beginning. Most likely, this will be a letdown for ya.

Animation - 10

Story/Character development - 8

Audio - 10

Fun - 8

Rewatch - 7

Overall - 8

I haven't had time to watch much Anime...or play any Games....but...

GRAPPLER BAKI(Shonen Fighting/Drama):
Quite possibly the best fighting Anime I have seen in years and I am a BIG fan of the genre. The story is basically about a boy Baki Hanma trying to be the best strongest fighter in the world. We see Baki travel the world in search of great fighters and he ends up in a secret tournament found under Tokyo dome the ultimate test of skill is at hand! WATCH IT!
Rating-9/10;A-

EXCEL SAGA(Comedy):
Funniest--Anime--Ever! It really has no plot other than a Girl named Excel, a member of the secret organization Across who look to cleanse the world/dominate it(sort of). This Anime does a pardoy on everything...EVERYTHING and it's pulled off well! It's THAT funny! WATCH IT!

Love Hina - 9/10 I need to see the last half of the series and the movies. (OVAs?)

Comic Party - 9/10 Not particularly funny or action-packed, this one relies on some nice characters and a great story about manga fandom and the human spirit.

Excel Saga - 10/10 This is just about as good as anime comedy gets. Nabeshin is THE MAN. Author Rikudo Koshi instantly went among my favorite comedians.

Digi Charat - 6/10 Forced into watching this, I expected it to be cutsey fluff from the art I've seen, but it turned out to be pretty crazy and funny. The 'EYE BEAMS' sold me. Still, the animation is terrible and the episodes are only 5 minutes each.

Initial D - I haven't seen enough of the series to fairly rate it, but it got better once the first good race was underway. Being a big fan of Eurobeat music and fast cars, I liked this anime. I also saw the Third Stage movie and it improved on the animation and managed to fit in several races. Good stuff.

Don't care for Tokyo Underground too...Just seems like too much of what has gone on before...

Serial Experiments Lain - 8/10
hmmm it's one of those love it or hate it anime. it's pretty slow-paced and damn confusing, but it kept me interested the whole way through. each episode made me want to see the next and hope that some questions are answered, but instead more questions arise. i'd describe lain as a big jigsaw puzzle, you'll have to see it for yourself to know if you like it or not

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - 9.5/10
holy crap! this movie is GORGEOUS! silky smooth animation, vibrant colors, and kick ass art. visually it's the best i've ever seen. the action scenes are impressive too. story was ok i guess, got silly near the end (a space shuttle in a castle?). it's a good dub too, but i really dislike the main female character. she is just so dumb for a hunter. nice music as well

Blood: The Last Vampire - 7/10
i don't know why i liked this movie. the characters are ok, nice visuals, good voice acting, and ok music. but it's so short! about 45 mins and that's it's main setback. absolutely nothing is explained in this movie. you don't know squat about the characters or their motives. had it been twice as long then the story could've unfolded and you wouldn't be left with a bad taste in your mouth. nice actions scenes though

Full Metal Panic:
8/10

I am greatly enjoying this anime (so far, up to ep13), which is odd considering I am rather burned out on anime right now. Everything I like about it is the result of the female lead, Chidori Kaname. I have never seen an anime character so on top of things, and somehow with all the training of a high school student. She is a natural born soldier, only without the training. I have a weakness for soldier girl characters. Anyway, it has giant robots and stuff too. Oh, did I mention that Chidori is one hell of a cool character?

Out of the latest stuff I've been watching I'd say that .Hack//Sign is the most promising. It's especially appealing to people that are into games like Everquest and PSO. The artwork is average... but the music is really good. 8/10

Rockman EXE is ok... I thought it would get better after the first couple episodes... but it didn't. You can tell the show is targeted towards a younger audience and it's become too pokemon-ish. The artwork matches the game perfectly though. 6/10

I just watched the first episode of Rizelmine and I'm still giggling. At first it seems like it's your typical sickening cute girl falls in love with boy and annoys him anime. In these anime usually the male character is a little shy weakling that blushes too much (just watch Mahoromatic, Love Hina, Tenchi Muyo or any other love comedy). Rizelmine is different, the male lead doesn't take crap from anyone. Everytime Rizel jumps into his arms it's followed up by a body slam or toss... and the funniest thing is Rizel is so out of it she's giggling the whole time... it also helps that she's a genetically engineered government clone thingy. Anyway they get married in the first episode and they find out what happens with Rizel cries... funny stuff, not weird funny like Excel, FLCL, or Puni Puni Poemi... but a cute kind of sadistic funny. 9/10

"I don't watch much anime..." , posted Sat 20 Apr 09:17:post reply

Pet Shop of Horrors (DVD edition): 10/10
The tapes are good, but until you've had the chance to hear it dubbed, subbed, and with running commentary you haven't lived. I'm sticking to the 1 to 10 scale, but if I wanted to be lame I'd say "25/10" because PSoH is that damn good.

Art of Fighting: 0/10
"A Non-stop, edge of your sit thrill ride that grabs you from start to finish on it's white knucle, pants wetting, fast past, action packed roller coaster of excitiment" is what I would say if this movie had been like Fatal Fury: the motion picture, since it's just a shuddy product just made to get some of the money FF:tmp made, I'm going to say "THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!"

hmmmm.... I really don't watch a lot of anime, but since "anime" is the Japanese word for "animation", guess who gets to hear me rate American movies? that's right, you!

Anastasia: 8/10
Excellent movie, I would have given it a 9 but too many damn songs and too much damn pointless CG dropped it two points. It gets a bonus point however because Rasputin looks like a rotting corspe version of Osama Bin Laden. I recommend this movie to anyone to see that American animation is not as bad as the more retarded Otaku will lead you to believe, also it's not Disney it's FOX, so you're not supporting evil Mr. Eisner by watching it.

Bartok the Magnificent: 9/10
not as great as Anastasia as far as visuals go, but the VA's and the fact it's not a prequel/sequel to the Anastasia make it all the better. Consider Bartok Bugs Bunny, his role in Anastasia has nothing to do with his stand alone movie. Maybe rent this for your young child or sibling, because my friends, it's good.

Disney's Tarzan: 8.5/10
If Disney hadn't done Beauty and the Beast and the Jungle Book I would have given this a 9.5, animation is EXCELLENT, makes one wonder what the hell happened when they made Mulan and Atlantis. Many like able characters, it's Disney so all you [retarded] "otaku" are going to bitch and moan about it, but it's better then a lot of animes I see.

Disney's the Hunchback of Notre Dame: 3/10
the only part I liked was the annoying ass Harlequin and the part when Belle walks bye. This movie is an excellent reason to hate Disney, but is breath taking compared to...

Disney's Hercules: -10/10
This movie is to Kevin Sorbo's Hercules as AoF is to FF:tmp. Disreguards everything you know about Hercules and makes him into Smallville's Clark f**king Kent. If I see one more sure about a boy with superhuman powers just wanting to fit in I'll murder someone, I swear...

Batman Beyond: the Return of the Joker: 8.5/10
I hate Batman Beyond, so imagine my surprise when I saw this movie and it was good... done by the anime studio that does "Monster Rancher" it looks just like the cartoon you see on TV on much smoother and cleaner, and the girls react more like ones in animes do. It's everything I wish the Saturday Morning cartoon had been and more.

(note: I know someones going to complain I called Otaku retarded, so just remember, in Japanese the true meaning of "otaku" is not 'person who enjoys anime' it's 'an unwashed over obessive nerd with no life other then their obession' so if you complain about my usage the word by using it, you're insulting those people as well)

Did anyone saw the uncensored version? (I don't know if it was finally released but it's possible to find it with WinMX or Morpheus) It's incredible how much they censored. I would give a 10/10 to the uncensored one. Some of the differences are:

Spoiler (Highlight to view) -
It's Robin who shots the Joker into his heart and kills him, in a very dramatic scene (and TOTALLY different from the edited one). The "Robin torture" scene is larger (And quite disturbing). The "Hahahaha" written in the batcave is in color red. When the satellite beam pursues the batmovile it destroys a street full of people... and I could continue.

End of Spoiler

And the DD's rule!

The uncensored version was never released, and what pissed me off even more was the "deleted footage" on the DVD version was just a storyboard they never animated (and a very shitty storyboard at that) and not the truely "deleted footage" one would expect such as, what you said.

I didn't like the DeeDees design, and Melissa Jone Hart wouldn't have been my first choice to voice them, but the their fighting style and Grandmother more then made up for those minor problems. They were neat!

Yeah the uncensored version is the only way to go.... they cut out some stuff that really impacts the story also. Like during the flashback in the uncut version, the original Batman get's stabbed in the leg by the Joker. That explains why the old Bruce Wayne walks with a limp and needs a kane.

After reading that, I see most of the cuts were unnecessary for a video release, but a few of the dialogue changes were for the better IMHO, esp. Tim Drake's lines. Hmm, now I need to see it again.

Hoshi no koe 7/10
Direction's pretty good, art is awesome too.
Except for the characters and voice acting. Bad...
I'd love to have this guy work with an animation team and see what he can produce, It'd be awesome...

Patlabor 3 8/10
Not too bad. Direction's nice, music's good, main characters aren't there(not a bad thing). Liked Patlabor 2 more though...

Nande ya nen!
