all I have to say if Holy damn ass crap!
it looks so amazing!
silky smooth animation, awsome graphics and the most complex/deep fighting system to date.

the vid shows the burst attacks and air throws...

as well as a good section for each new character!!!

lets start by saying the new characters ROCK!
I-no is really, really cool.
Brisget is WAAAYY! better than I expected.
Zappa is as freaky as ever

but the award for SO FAR best looking new character has to go to slayer..he pulled off some amazing moves and combo's plus, i love his starting pose...

BEST~!!!!

That looked real nice. Very colorful and animated.

But the action seemed rather slow...I hope this game has a turbo option, because this vid would look SO much better if those combos came off faster...

first of all, what the hell do you mean same old, same old? Look at street fighter 3-2nd impact, alpha 1-2, Kof whatever-whatever...Darkstralkers 1-2-3, Most 2d fighting games have the same stages, graphic style etc.. throughout the sequels.

PLus GGX's graphics are still ahead of it's time (no other high-res 2d fighter out...) So of course, arc systmes is not going to compleatly change the graphic / style!

And well oyur entitled to your opinion about the character design, but all I have to say is these characters are damn impressive!!! I-no, bridget, zappa and slayer are all the most original characters!!

I am tired of idiots like you saying how the character designs are not impressive! Everyone who plays GG that I know and have talk to, plus almost every videogame site knows that the Guilty gear series has the best character designs (or at least the most original/weird) in any 2d fighter out now!

And slayer is not lawrence blood! just because he has a beard and cape? what? so now NO OTHER GAME EVER COULD MAKE A CHARACTER WITH A BEARD OR CAP BECAUSE IT IS LAWRENCE BLOOD?, look at street fighter or SNK, full of the same "ground fireball, uppercut, hadoken etc...) characters and no one makes fun of them? becuase its street fighter or KOF and its "classic" so dont make fun of it.

IDIOT! im sorry i know your were just stating your opinion, but I have had it with people lioke you.....does'nt anyone else see that GUILTY GEAR IS THE NEW ERA OF 2d FIGHTING GAMES!!! IT IS THE BEST!! BOW DOWN TO IT!!!

While i like Guilty Geat a lot, and i find the overall designs quite original, i wouldnt go as far as saying that it has the best animation, fighting system, or BALANCE.
Hopefully they fixed these issues in XX, that would be awesome.

Speaking of ground fireball, shoryuken, etc characters...I think Sol and Ky fall into that category :)

IMO, the story sucks a little bit, I prefer SNK's games story (e.g. : LB or KOF). Same thing for the musics, it's not too bad but there's better(Athena '96, Kyo or Iori '99).
But I'm OK with you for graphics and fast gameplay.
I forgot ... there's the best endings too ! LOL ^_-

no it is'nt, Its just that traps are very powerful.

I never do any traps that people know of. (mist trap, eddy ruchsdown, FDC...)

a truly skilled player can get out of, or not get into a trap. plus they are fairly hard to do for the average gamer, so most of the time, unless you are playing in a professional tournament, traps are hardly done.

Nope, i played GG and GGX enough, and countless fighting games for years now. It is a nice try but theres still a lot of problems with the fighting engine and balance, but it still manages to be a very fun game, it has a very good sound track, and the graphics are really good.

But it still feels like a flawed VERSUS game.

I don't think you can really fairly compare it to "a flawed VERSUS game".

I think the balance is reasonably good (in GGX), especially considering that it's such a young and new series. I certainly never personally experienced any terrible problems because of game balance in GGX.

Many of the combos can only be fulfilled under certain circumstances (usually full guard meter and tension meter), and can theoretically never be done in normal match ups...

He he he, I agree with Juan entirely...
The game has strong points at his favor:
The music is very, very good, the character designs are good (not the best ever...), the graphics are nice, and the fact that they are in high res, doesn't make them the best stage designs ever...
The balance is terrible! I've never seen a fighting game so unbalanced, some characters are years light beyond from others (the first time I played it, I did a 22 hit combo with no idea of what the hell I was doing... hell, no one can do a 22 hit combo their first time in any Vs game... and no, I'm not including supers), the values are weird, but maybe that's because Sammy is a new company in the fighting game market...
In short, GGX is a fun game, it tries new ideas and the high res thing is quite cool, but it's very far from being the best fighter or the next gen of fighting games...

it's a pretty balanced fighter imo, it's just that some characters have something very good with something very bad.

like Potemkin has great strength and defense, but he's VERY slow. he can't even dash for christ's sake! on the other hand Chipp is very fast but he has the worst defense. Potemkin would destroy Chipp in like 5 hits....if he can catch him. the only chars i feel are unbalanced are Testament, Millia, and Sol.

still, it's way better than CapVsSNK2

game over?? but i beat the game!

I dont think its fair to compare any 2d fighter with another because personal prefrence gets in the way. Especially when the way that you play guilty gear X compared to a MVC2 takes about 4 times the thinking. GGX and CVS2 cant be compared in near any way. The only thing that can be remotely compared is the balance between the fighters.

Why are they making this game for ps2 instead of dc? ps2 is very hard to program for while dc you could port this over in a sneeze.

Oh yeah wheres Kliff and that other dude from the ps2 edition of ggx?

because, as much as I hate to admit it, the DC is dead as a system in NA and Japan. Sammy and Arc systems just aren't going to get the profit for the game on the DC that would get on the PS2...

The green, homie, the green. It's all about the green. Sammy doesn't give a rat's ass about ease of portability if it won't net 'em the green.

Why else would the oh-so-hideous 2D fighting game ports(SFA3 excluded) on PS1 even exist?

Who says it's going to PS2? As far as we know it's just arcade naomi right now. I wouldn't rule out a DC port, just look... next week Capcom releases Gundam: Federation vs Zion for the DC, next month Treasure releases Ikaruga for the DC, and after that SNK is releasing KOF 2k for the DC... does that sound like a dead system?

If there's no DC version I'm hoping at least for a PC port, I was really impressed with the PC port of GGX.

Atcually, yes, it does sound like a dead system. Four titles released long after the system's developer abandoned it doesn't mean it's still alive and well, or that it's coming back. No matter how much you or I want to think otherwise, the dc is dead.

Not to mention, cnsidering GGX never made to the US on DC, and GGX+ came out on PS2 only, it's in Sammy's best interest to keep the series on the PS2, they've already got a well installed user base.

I'm sure they (like everyone else) have moved on, you should too.

all I have to say if Holy damn ass crap!
it looks so amazing!
silky smooth animation, awsome graphics and the most complex/deep fighting system to date.

the vid shows the burst attacks and air throws...

as well as a good section for each new character!!!

lets start by saying the new characters ROCK!
I-no is really, really cool.
Brisget is WAAAYY! better than I expected.
Zappa is as freaky as ever

but the award for SO FAR best looking new character has to go to slayer..he pulled off some amazing moves and combo's plus, i love his starting pose...

BEST~!!!!
