Was at the local EB today, and I decided to flip through the CvS2 play guide they have for the PS2. Typical Game Guide, as it's full of nice glossy pictures that will hopefully blind you to the fact that you can find the same info on GameFaqs for free...

But this guide had nice art done by Kinu and Shinrouku for each character. And it had short little history right ups for each character too, full with such pearls of wisdom as...

Sakura, who trained herself in Shotokan style karate after Ryu refused to teach her.

Rock Howard, who starred in the excellent SNk fighting game...Mark of the Garou.

Riot of the Blood Iori, who killed both Vice and Mature...in KOF 97

Iori Yagami, who first appeared in King of Fighters ... 94

Ahh, don't you just love misinformation, especially when it's partially correct? Wondered what ever happened to profreading...

yeah, I had bought the guide when it first came out and I noticed those mistakes. I read the stories JUST FOR the mistakes. I got it for the art in the book. It's a good guide, only I don't have it for the PS2. I was, but then I finally played it a week ago and I didn't like it that much.

They don't proofread at all which is sad since their guides would be good otherwise. CvS1 and SFA3 are perfect examples of typos/picture switches.

is not acceptable...

You should see their FF8 guide, which I have. They don't even cover the last bosses. Strange, since they did that in their FF7 guide...

Sakura Kasugano, who's actually the physical manifestation of an unusally strong 16-year-old girl created by a girl who's a helluva lot younger than that.

Rock Howard, who starred in an obscure fighting game that about 96% of the country never even got to see, later ported to a system that about 96% of the country wrote off as "dead". (BTW, I'm thinking of buying it, but they have to go below $35.)

Riot of the Blood Iori Yagami, who was not a playable character in KOF '96, and didn't become that important anyway until the Orochi megahype blockbuster in '97, and who the hell can keep track of KOF continuuity anyway.

Iori Yagami, who first appeared in the first "real" KOF tourney, so called because '94 didn't have 3,000,000 layers of hype about this Orochi clan thing, and of course it isn't a real KOF game unless they get to trump up this incredibly tired rivalry which has absolutely no relevance in the modern world, and again, can you really fault Bradygames for not being able to keep up with all this?

(Well, you know what they say about truth being stranger than fiction...)

96% of the country are easily swayed by media hype.

I still wonder how the whole Orochi deal became such a "blockbuster". The whole battle was very underwhelming.

The more KOF relied on its storyline the more bogged down it became. The whole "descendants of rival clans" deal does sound considerably better than "Kyo's main rival who strives to surpass him someday!" though.

Ain't that the truth.

LoL, pretty funny stuff there.

That reminds me, I always wondered what the title "Mark of the Wolves" was supposed to mean. I mean, when you think about it, a wolf's "marking" is supposed to be....

*snicker* You know something's weird when even Capcom themselves admit that storyline-wise, Sakura's ability is whacked for her age.

*decides to shut mouth because he's at the point where any time he talks about Riot of Blood from a storyline standpoint, he says very derogative remarks which is sure to incite the wrath of Orochi fanboys upon his miserable skull*

Oh screw it. I can't help myself! Let it be known that even in this modern day and age, it's okay to hate someone's guts just because destiny and ancestral history decree that you do so!

In all honesty though, all Brady Games really had to do was look up the storyline FAQs at gamefaqs.com, and that's free!

I think they did, cause all of the mis-information has enough truth in them to believe they didn't pull the facts out of thin air. They just sorta of misunderstood them...:P

Prof: *Snicker* Yes, that insight certainly brings in new insight to Garou...(Suddenly imagines Terry, Rock, and Geese fighting over makred territory...^^)
