It's an interesting concept, but.. I just hope it's not going to be a more complex-in-control version of Shemmue.
I was kind of hoping a Fighter Megamix2 to be announced, but with the decline of VS-style fighters, I doubt that will ever come about.
Highlight of Tekken 4 / PS2 Version: Spanking Combot.

COO Tetsu Kayama had said that a GameCube version of Virtua Fighter would need to be "toned down"...
"I think it is nonsense to directly port Virtua Fighter to the GameCube. For example, we can make it Virtua Fighter Kids to curtail to the lower age demographic. The game system and fun factor should not be changed so that these players can then move on to the next step with the actual Virtua Fighter." -from a widely quoted interview
Doesn't seem like this would be the case with a Virtua Fighter Quest though. Yu had been talking about something like this, and I think it would be a lot more fighting oriented than Shenmue...
Cool news though, I love this site.

Wasnt Shenmue called Virtua Fighter RPG at first? or was that the name of the shenmue project or developing team itself?

If I remember correctly, it was called Virtua Fighter RPG, then Project Berkeley, then finally Shenmue... Anyway, VF Quest (or whatever it might end up being called) definitely sounds interesting and is something to look forward to in 2003. As much as I liked VF Kids on Saturn, I'd rather have an adventure game starring VF characters than VF Kids 2 on GC...
