OK. I roommate just bought a new PS2, and I bought his old one for $100 dollars. This old model PS2 only played DVD ROMS. I took it home with me for spring break (today) and I bought a DVD/CD lens cleaner. I tried to use it and it didn't work I got a Disc Read Error for the lens cleaner. I was kinda upset, then for some reason I started messing with it and I turned the PS2 upside down and it worked! It actually read the lens cleaner. Then I cleaned the lens a few times. I popped in some music CD's and it still didn't read it. So I put it upside down again and then it worked for the music CD's. At this point I was going crazy trying to figure out why it does this. Then I sat it up vertically then tried to clean the lens and THAT worked. Then I tried music CD's and that worked, then I tried PS1 games and that worked. All of them except Castlevania Chronicles. All the others work when the PS2 is upside down and standing vertically. I haven't gotten it to work right while sitting up the normal way. At least I haven't gotten the CD ROM stuff to work that way. It's insane. So basically I got it to work and saved myself $200 dollars.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get Castlevania Chronicles to work. I thought it was just beacause it was a 2D game because the PS2 makes the same scratching sounds when trying to load GGX, but I put in Castlevania:SotN and it worked PERFECTLY!!!
PS2 technology is too weird. Oh well.
