In Hannover, Germany (sp?) Microsoft took down the PS2 that was on display as at the internation trade fair of IT, by orders from the Microsoft executives. Microsoft of Amercia said they wanted to enforce a rule that no "amusement or game machines" should be on display at the fair. Many visitors expecting to play the PS2 were disappointed. The PS2 had been on display for 2 years now, and there was no complaints or controversey until now. It is suspected that this has much to do with the X-Box's release.

I have a feeling Sony isn't going to stand for this...

But I'm sure the X-box will be okay, since it's not an amusement and game machine it's a home entertainment machine....
Of course little stunts like this won't help the X-box out. More good quality games would, though...(Now I wonder what stunt Sony will do in response, because they're no angel in this war...)

My personal feelings about X-box aside, this was a pretty pathetic (and immature) gesture for MS.
If you have confidence in your games and platform, you wouldn't need dirty tricks..
I personally like X-box as a hardware, but MS's tactics and their attitude towards consumers (especially in Japan) are pathetic.
No recalls for the X-boxes that scratches the discs. Which pissed off retailers, since they now have PILES of black boxes sitting there in inventory with green X on it, not selling.
Line-up is poor, and as for forseeable future... well, the big N just got Bio and Square. X's future is not looking too bright..
I'll still buy a X-box when Shin Megami Tensei NINE and Panzer dragoon comes out though :)

Its about time Sony got a taste of its own medicine... I'm sorry if you guys disagree, but its really easy to rat on Microsoft when Sony has practically dominated ruthlessly the gaming industry just as Microsoft dominated the PC market. Not meaning to stir trouble, but I am glad MS did that.

In the related news, the show attendance numbers for the next day dropped drastically... Experts explained this phenomenon as the results of missing playable PS2's on the show floor... (I'm kidding, of course. But this could happen, really...)

Microsoft playing it's dirty games yet again?
Sony Vaios should come with Linux/BeOs from now on (because any Windows OS will damage the laptop), and their TV's should have a special chip installed to fry any XBoxes attached to it (to maintain consumer sanity).
Hehe, and then call it a feature :)
Neh, probably won't happen, but it'll be interesting to see how Sony will react to this move.

Dudes, Sony has be doing the same thing to every game company in stores. If this pisses you off about MS look at how sony works. Fucken they threated all the retails to not stock Gamecube or X-box. Also they use propaganda to kill a consoles(SEGA).

Whoa, you seem a bit biased yourself there...
As they say, alls fair in love and war.
But I just kinda think this is irrelevant. It's not a store, it's just a fair. You'd figure that if they were going to do this, they wouldn't have had the PS2 up there in the first place, since by then everyone knew MS was trying to get a piece of the gaming industry. I guess they were so confident they didn't predict this not-so-great outcome...

This is child's play compared to some of the shit Nintendo/Sega/Sony pulled and/or currently pulls.

I dunno, guys, but if I had to choose between Sony or Microsoft, I go with Microsoft. I just hate how Sony was ruthless in the past, and anyone is going to take them down, its Microsoft.

And Microsoft would be better than Sony in what way? We just need to take a quick look at their actions in the PC market to see how they treat rivals and competing products. They'd be no better than Sony, and probably have used some of Sony's dirty tricks already (And their own).
The truth is nobody is an angel in the current crop of Hardware wars. All three companies have used rather ruthless and dirty tatics to control market share in the past, and would be willing to do so again in the future. It's what one needs to do if they want to compete in the hardware wars....
