Masochisism... my anceinet art of living... er, I mean; that extrange illness that affects some humans beings...

I recall Mukuro saying phrases like "beautiful" when you attack him.... and -when defeated- Basara yells "what a beautiful nightmare"; and in other sense we have Yamazaki that uses Mashosism in ones of his moves... I do not believe that they fit perfectly in the concept of Masochisism; though.

I also got some masochisism on a few characters; but it is still an unexplored area in the creativity issues (novels, anime, games, stories); then again I bet that Hentai & Doujinshi (whatever) have deep knowlege and a lot of exponents of this illness.

Well... Omega Rugal (KOF'95) & Orochi (KOF'97) both had that winning pose where they hurt themselves. And they seemed to enjoy it, especially Omega Rugal...

Hmmm...I've been inventing a sort of dominatrix character design myself...

She used to be this prized, beautiful dominatrix, but one day one of her clients freaked out, and harshly scarred her face. Since then she's been searching for him, seeking revenge...(of course, he turns out to be the last boss of my as-of-yet unnamed game). She fights with a cat-o-nine-tails, but has poor range on her normals, as she attacks with the butt-end of the whip. Her specials all do double damage in the corner.

Her strongest super is a LONG range (half-screen) unblockable strike where she holds on to the tails of the whip and swings with the butt end. The downside of this move is that the opponent has to be in the corner...she strikes them 11 times, each strike doing nine hits, then kisses them and knees them in the crotch for the hundreth hit.

In regards to other masochistic characters in fighting games, well there was a dominatrix-like girl in Double Dragon Four (yes, the fighting game lol). She did moves with her stilletto heels.

Oh! and thankfully a lot of the Megaten/Persona/Soul Hackers characters are designed in that way. Just look at the awesome cover for Shin Megami Tensei 2 for PSX.

Uh, I believe "It makes me feel alive" is the most common response when people are asked why they are masochistic.

Really, all martial arts has a little bit of a masochistic side. I enjoy the pain of martial arts (as long as I get to dish it out as well) because I know it is part of getting stronger and tougher.

The Love Hina mangas are the real deal. The animation is just a spin-off. The mangas are far, far more interesting. Not to let that thread merge with this one...

Anyway, I noticed that Kanako's clothes during most of her time in the manga are the same that Vice and Mature wear, slmost exactly. Someone care to explain?

Captain Sawada from the Street Fighter Movie games (CRAP!!!) had a move where he attacked himself (took no damage if I remember correctly) and the blood was used a sheild...

that probably doesn't count though...
