ok, guys, for the past few months i've been RaCKINg my damn brain trying to remember a very cool old super nintendo game. i'm pretty sure it was one of the first snes games out on the market. you're my last resort. hopefully you guys can help me out

here's the little things i remember about it:
- i'm pretty sure the setting took place in japan
- not exactly sure what category it'd fit in, but i'd guess "action." some areas were an overhead view, others were sidescroll. you ran around with a sword or a stick or something. it played a lot like zelda
- when you beat enemies, (i think) coins would fall
- some (or all) of the bosses in the game took up the whole screen
- one of the bosses i remember was in the woods, outside this festival. the storyline was something like "hey, where's the girl? (might've been a cat, i don't remember, lol)" then they go outside the festival and they find her (or the cat) tied up, hanging from something (maybe a tree?) and this hugeass boss comes out
- the festival i mentioned above took place at night. there were a bunch of those paper lanterns everywhere
- the boss i mentioned above might've been a giant robotic cat. or maybe you had to save a cat. AHHH help!
- i remember one stage that took place in a temple or something. as you travelled on, this "clockwork" noise would start cranking and the stage would "turn." what was up was now left, and what was left was now down (does that make sense?)

i'm not exactly sure if all the details i listed above are true. i might've made some up while trying to remember, hehe. so if anyone has any guesses, oh please, please, please post!!

Let me put an end to your suffering :)

The game must be The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Ganbare Goemon)

Just Love that US box art!

Hehe, glad to be of service.

A lot of us has fond memories of US Box art,
right? Games such as Super Mario Bros,
Megaman, Streets of Rage etc. had memorable ones :)
