Since the topic of books has been brought up
in another thread, just thought that I'd ask
you all what good books you've read recently?

As for myself, I haven't been doing much
reading lately... last good book I read was
Charlotte's Web (yeah, finally traced down a
first ed :) and American Gods, by Neil
Gaiman. Nicely written book, but it's so
similiar to Douglas Adam's Long Dark Tea
Time of the Soul.

Good books?
Hummm... If you haven't tried Only Forward by Michael Marshall Smith you should, it's a great scifi-surrealistic story with a crazy twist. Very good.
And any book by William Gibson, of course (my favorite is Idoru).
Lately I've been reading the Philip K. Dick complete short stories... and a couple of Discworld books, too.

I'm sure all of you have heard of Anne Frank, the girl who was discovered hiding in an attic in Amsterdam and sent to the concentration camps, dying in Bergen-Belsen in March 1945,just before WW2 was over, and before the camp was liberated?

*whew*

Well,I've read "The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank",and it talks about women who were in Auschwitz and Bergen Belsen with Anne, who seen or knew her and her family,and/or were with her to the end.
It's sad to see what those bastard Nazi's done to so many innocents.

I'm currently reading Marlfox by Brian Jaques. It's a part of the "Redwall" series, and there's a bunch of them out there now. These books are awesome. Think of a mixture of a Disney film, The Chronicles of Narnia without the magic, and make them a lot bloodier and gory and you've got the Redwall books.

Well, in school, we just finished The Grapes of Wraith. Not that bad of a book. Also, in school, for reading time (I'm in college, too :P) I was reading Jaws, which kicked massive ass. The movie quivers in comparison tot he book. Check it out if you can.
Currently I'm reading The Man With The Golden Gun. Not a bad book.

Looking at what everyone else is reading it looks like I'm the sci-fi geek of the board...

The last book I read was the third Harry Potter book. Despite their kiddy fame, they're good books, I was very surprised!

You aren't the only one, Rid. Comics are sci-fi to an extent, plus I love Star Trek (mostly The Next Generation, a little bit of the original, but nothing else) and Star Wars.

Forgot about "Good Omens", by Pratchett (Discworld) and Gaiman (The Sandman, Neverwhere), another excellent book!

And Iron D, I like comic books and Star Trek, too... (but from Star Trek only The Next Generation, and the "war" episodes from Deep Space Nine).

Right now, the "Satyricon," by Petronius.
After that, I've been wanting to read "Vanity Fair," by Thackeray. Oh, we also studied the "Romance of Reynard the Fox" recently in my Medieval Lit class. Those stories are great!
