On japan there it was a "test" to see what games were producted a higer income for the company... results.

1.- Virtua Fighter 4 (90.000 yens)

2.- Tekken 4 (25.000 yens)

3.- KoF 2001 & CvS2 (10.000 yens)

These numbers are the money the can amase in half of a day; 12 hours in the country.... in my city KoF blow all of these others away...

Then again; they are not up to dodge ball... source:

Well, we have none of those here so they're making nothing off of me...Nothing!!! ^^

Hmm, Kinda of shocking for me to see VF4 up there after seeing how badly VF3 fell flat here. Might have to give it a shot when the game comes out on the PS2.

Always nice to see 2D on there, and hopefully the good sales will convience Capcom to make another 2D fighter soon...:)

Grrrr.... Thanks to local arcade going thru renovation, I'm currently experiencing TK4 withdrawl.
They'll be re-opening in April, but by that time, I'll be playing TK4 at home on PS2.
(thankfully, PS2 VF4 is doing fine job of keeping me busy at this time)

Eh, didn't know that Prangin Mall had an
arcade, and I thought that 1-Stop only had
Counter Strike machines :)

I'll contact you again next time when I'm in
Penang, but I'm currently working in PJ so
it'll be a while until I go back. Have a big
project to finish first...

Probably Sungai Wang Plaza has VF4. Should
check it out one of these days.

yea , do contact me when ur back to penang .. sorta RARE that 2 penang ppl KNOW each other in the MMCafe !

It surprises me that KoF 2K1 is so popular in Japan. Good to see people still support SNK's products. Because here in Austria (and as far as I know in Germany too), nobody gives a damn about 2D-fighting games anymore. The last 2D-fighter I saw in the local arcade was Street Fighter 3 New Generation. But now we got only Tekken 4 and VF4 in all acrades :((((((((((

Here is the other way around... 3d machines are empty while the 2d machines always have some one playing... it may seems that we are old fashioned...

It's a real shame that some areas of the world seem to be focused on only one type of game.

Here in Southern Cali, I can honestly say that pretty much all good fighting games get good play. I think that 2d games have a slight edge, but Tekken 4 and Soul Calibur are still played quite a bit. I can't talk for VF4, as I haven't seen it anywhere yet.

At my local arcade CvS2, MvC2, and KoF2k1 are getting the most play currently, with SF3:3S and Tekken 4 coming in just behind them.

Lucky ones!!! I see many of you can play good games in arcade!!! Here in France (Marseilles exactly, we can only play Tekken 4 and Virtua Fighter 4 but NO KOF IN ALL THE CITY!!!! it's a real nightmare. Last week, I went to Paris only for playing KOF 2001 and the others.I can play KOF on my dreamcast, Saturn or my Kawaks but it's not better than arcade!!! I think all of you will understand me.

Yes, I'll second that... there is nothing like teasing, er, I mean, fighting a stranger on the arcades.

Ah, the thrill of potentially getting beaten up! :)

I like playing in the arcades because if I'm
good at a game (or getting trashed really
badly) I'll draw an audience! Haha, some
brief moments of fame for me.

I am famous be my "half time" shows while playing in an arcade... everyone here know my laugh... and my "teasing laugh"... people believe that my voice can move mountains.

Hehe, just the other day I was playing at the arcades and some kids got amazed by my Varth (my favorite shooter) skills!

Yup, there's nothing like that in console gaming!!!

Oh, I understand you. Here in Granada, Spain, the only fighting arcades that reach here are the KOF series in TWO arcades(although we don't have 2001 already, the owner of one of the arcades has promised us that he will bring it), and in ONE arcade, the Tekken series. That's it. No SF3, no SFAlpha, no Cvs2 (or Cvs, but that's crap), no VF, etc... the "NO" list is long.
What is common is shooting, racing and sports games. And I don't like nearly any of those!!! Damn. Speaking of this pisses me SO much...
