Koudelka Iasant

SNK released news of Koudelka, a game produced by Saknos and distributed by SNK. Saknos is a company consisting of 40 employees, in which the core workers are former Square employees.

Koudelka takes place in a night of the 19th century, in a monastery known as Nayton. As the monastery was abandoned in the 16th century, is has been used since then as a prison for political criminals.

There are three main characters in this game- Koudelka herself, Edward, and James. In the game, the player must use the characters to unravel the mysteries of a Monastery using a variety of items as well as defeating monsters and escaping traps.

Field Screen

While the field screen moves in a BioHazard/Resident Evil type screen where the polygon characters move through a pre-rendered background, the battle system in Koudelka is similar to that of  Final fantasy, where character fights in turns.

As noted before,  Saknoses' core consists of a number of former Square employees. Likewise it can be seen that similar techniques and presentation methods are used in some parts of the game. In addition, Saknos uses some of their own distinct techniques such as the lip synching of characters to their voices.
