Sega's expansion throughout Akihabara knows no limits. Sega Akihabara may sound like a store that's been around for ages, but this is actually a store that's opened right in front of the Akihabara train station in December 2010. Its excellent location is sure to put pressure on its competitors. B1 + 4 Floors, Narrow.

An arcade that's a bit away from the main streets, GiGo Akihabara attracts the more casual croud that commute in that direction, as well as the Akiba crowds that go to have lunch at Mansei, the meat restaurant. 6 Floors, narrow.

The oldest Sega arcade in Akihabara, Club Sega's red building is one of the landmarks in the main street. With its good location, the arcade continues to gather a crowd, and its competition is equal to that of the neighboring Taito Hey. B1 + 5 Floors, Seminarrow.

An arcade that's a little off the main street, Leisure Land is relatively more relaxed than its neighboring arcades like Club Sega despite only a minute or two of walk. Good for resting and offers a nice line-up of fighting games. 5 Floors, Semiwide.

Most Recommended Arcade in Akihabara

Together with Club Sega, Taito HEY (Hirose Entertainment Yard) is one of the landmark arcades in Akihabara. The store boasts a full offering of fighting games on the third floor and there's high competition regardless of day or night. The second floor specializes in shoot 'em ups and also attracts a crowd. The basement floor is Melon books, a doujinshi (fanart comic) shop. 3F, Wide.

Sega's third branch opened in February 2010, taking over the building once occupied by Sato Musen electronics. With its excellent location only meters away from the old annex Club Sega, the two buildings are literally sandwiching Taito HEY and putting pressure on the store. 6 Floors, Semiwide. The competition is lower than the other two arcades on the main street, so it's a good practice area.

The Super Potato chain store is best known as a vintage dealer, with branches in Akihabara and Ikebukuro for the Tokyo area. What some visitors may not know is that the Akihabara branch actually has a small arcade on the top floor, which offers a cozy atmosphere and a selection of vintage arcade games.

Located in the same huge bulding as Don Quijote, Tokyo Leisure Land 2 is often missed by tourists and out-of-towners, but it boasts a good lineup of games. 6F and 7F.

Operated by a PCB dealer, TRY Amusement has always been a niche location for those in the know. The store has a vast lineup ranging from retro games to the latest titles, and its offerings changes periodically from the dealer's PCB lineup. The arcade has moved from its old location and is looking better than ever. Take the elevator. 3F - 9F.

An old arcade located in the outskirts of Akihabara, FunFun is a convenient place for shoppers that mainly lurk around the Yodobashi Camera side of the commercial district. Operated by an arcade distributor, GM Shoji Corp.

An utmost unique arcade that specializes in vintage games, Natsuge is probably the only place that has 70-80s' tabletop machines, old PC games, and non-electronic machines running for gameplay.

The store also sells vintage goods and CDs. Opened only on Friday nights (6-10PM) and the weekends after lunch break(1-10PMSat, 1-8PMSun&Holidays).

Operated by TRY Amusement Tower, Crane Kenkyujo is not an arcade but a small store dedicated to prize catching machines.
